A Small Sample of Emails From Bishop Dennis:

I chose the emails below (and believe me there are many more), to highlight the extraordinary work Bishop Dennis has done and is doing, in the face of extreme poverty, conflict and violence.

Bishop Dennis and the people of The Central African Republic need our help NOW!

Hi Mark,

Happy feast of Christ the King.

Thanks for your email.

We had a couple of weeks very worrying but God has led us through it. We keep our eyes on the Cross of Jesus imploring his protection and guidance.

Our internet connection has been very slow and uploading pictures have been a headache. I have called in a technician. Hopefully, he will get it done and I will send you some photos for the website.

Please, keep praying for this country. We are preparing for a National Dialogue and some of the opposition leaders have taken side to boycott everything. It will not be good for the peace process. This is because already, around Bambari and Alindao, many civilians have been attacked and killed in cold blood by non-identified armed groups.

I hold you in my prayers always.

God bless you

Bishop Dennis

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your email. I appreciate it. I have been on pastoral tour in a very remote parish.

As I have mentioned in the message which I have sent you on Whatsapp, I have given the sacrament of Confirmation to 740 neophytes.

Tomorrow, I will travel to another parish at 135 miles away from Berberati, for the annual diocesan pilgrimage to the Marian sanctuary. I will be back on Monday February 14th.

So I will humbly suggest if we can speak on Tuesday February 15th at 11 am US time (5pm CAR time). Is the time convenient for you?

During the pilgrimage, please be assured of my prayers for you, your family, the new ministry and for all the benefactors who are ready to help.

Kindly extend my sincere greetings to your wife and your daughter.

God bless you.

Bishop Dennis

Hi Mark,

I hope you are doing great. I am grateful to God for all that He does for the growth of His Church. To Him be the glory and praise forever.

Kindly find attached this short reflection which I have given to the nuns working with me in the bishop’s house. Every third Sunday of the month, we have a community monthly recollection and whenever I am available, I give them a text to meditate.

Please extend my heartfelt greetings and blessings to your family, friends and benefactors.

Please keep us in your prayers. Intercommunity conflict looms large in one part of my diocese. I have tried to contact some local authorities but unfortunately, the telephone network has been unstable of late. However, I hope the competent authorities will do their best to prevent escalation of atrocities and massive violence.

In a prayerful union.

Bishop Dennis Kofi AGBENYADZI
